Not much is known about either this race or their system of ruling. United Nations contacts have been few in number.

The first recorded encounter came in late 2050 when a group of two hundred I'r soldiers took the 7th Galaxy Patrol by surprise and completely decimated the fleet, leaving only a couple of survivors. These were picked up shortly afterwards by the Macross 12, which was then itself assaulted. The fleet successfully rebuffed the attack, but with a large amount of casualties.

The I'r are extremely humanoid in appearance. Accounts of unarmoured I'r warriors show them to externally appear exactly the same as humans with the absence of all bodily hair, relatively short (tallest so far recorded as being 5'9") and are fairly stocky. One subject had an intricate tattoo along the right side of his face. It also appears that the race possesses some latent form of psychic energy and that this is the cause for their ability to create strange effects and understand other languages based on a few words.

It also appears that they employ two types of armoured suit, visually organic. A sample has yet to be obtained for examination.

At this point in time the I'r are to be considered extremely hostile and are to be met with lethal force if necessary.
